Chaverim of Rockland, established in 1999 in Monsey, is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to providing non-medical emergency assistance to the community. Operating 24/7, it handles over 64,000 calls annually, addressing a wide range of needs from roadside assistance to crisis management. The organization is staffed by more than 180 trained volunteers and 30 dispatchers, ensuring prompt and professional responses to various situations.
Their services encompass roadside assistance, such as aiding with flat tires, dead batteries, and vehicles stuck in snow or mud. They also assist with home and vehicle lockouts, retrieve lost items, and provide support during severe weather events by supplying generators and aiding in evacuations. Chaverim's Search and Rescue teams are equipped with specialized tools, including drones and mobile command centers, to locate missing persons efficiently.
In addition to emergency responses, Chaverim emphasizes community safety through initiatives like the NightWatch program, which patrols neighborhoods during overnight hours.
