Ohr Naava
Women's Torah Empowerment
Brooklyn, NY, USA
Ohr Naava is a multifaceted organization dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, and educational growth of Jewish women and girls. Founded by Rabbi Zechariah Wallerstein זצ״ל, it has evolved from a single shiur into a global movement, reaching over a million women annually through its six core divisions. These divisions encompass Torah education, personal development, emotional support, and community engagement, all tailored to meet the diverse needs of women at various stages of life.
The educational arm includes Bnos Bina Seminary, a rigorous program for aspiring educators and leaders, and Ateres Naava Seminary, designed for college-attending women seeking to deepen their connection with Hashem. Both offer accredited bachelor's degrees alongside intensive Torah study. For those navigating post-seminary life, the "Life After Seminary" program provides a supportive community with high-level learning opportunities, fostering continued growth and connection.
Ohr Naava also addresses the needs of young women facing challenges through Bnot Chaya Academy, a high school offering a nurturing environment for students who have not thrived in traditional settings. The Ranch at Bethel provides immersive support for survivors of trauma, utilizing therapies such as equine-assisted healing to facilitate recovery. Additionally, the Yutta Zicherman Crisis Hotline offers immediate assistance and guidance, ensuring that help is accessible during times of crisis.
Community engagement is fostered through events like Avinu Malkeinu, a global gathering for inspiration before the Yomim Noraim, and the Shabbos of Inspiration, which unites high school girls nationwide for a weekend of growth and connection. These programs, along with others like Tish'a B'av Around the World and Zos Hatorah, provide platforms for collective learning and spiritual enrichment.
