La’briut is a peer-led support organization based in Chicago, dedicated to serving Orthodox Jewish women who are navigating personal mental health challenges or supporting family members facing such issues. The group fosters a sense of community and understanding through monthly events, supportive emails, and a network of members offering friendship and strength. By creating a space where women can connect over shared experiences, La’briut aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health within the community.

The organization offers two distinct monthly support groups via Zoom. One group is tailored for women supporting family members with mental health challenges, providing a platform to share experiences and coping strategies. The other, titled "Let's Talk About Mental Health," allows women to discuss how mental health has impacted their own lives. Both groups emphasize strict confidentiality to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

La’briut operates under the guidance of respected Chicago Rabbanim, including R’ Shmuel Fuerst, R’ Zev Cohen, and R’ Yaakov Robinson. Halachic guidance is sought from R’ Cohen, and the organization benefits from the expertise of its clinical advisor, Mrs. Ethel Bartky, M.S., LMFT. This leadership ensures that La’briut's activities align with both religious and clinical best practices.

In addition to support groups, La’briut provides resources and information through its email list, helping members stay informed and connected. The organization's commitment to confidentiality and cultural sensitivity makes it a vital resource for Orthodox Jewish women seeking support in mental health matters.
