It operates with a mission of kindness, aiming to provide support in areas not currently covered by other institutions. One of DCP's key programs is the Tomchei Shabbos initiative, which delivers Shabbat and Yom Tov food essentials directly to the homes of families experiencing financial difficulties. This service ensures that recipients can observe these sacred times with dignity and without added stress. Additionally, DCP provides school lunches to children from families in crisis, ensuring that students have access to nutritious meals during the school day.

Recognizing the importance of mental well-being, DCP offers access to licensed therapists who provide individual services for children and adults, as well as couples and family counseling, parenting consultation, and bereavement counseling. These services are aimed at supporting the emotional and psychological health of community members during times of need.

To further assist those facing hardships, DCP has compiled a comprehensive Community Resource Guide. This guide includes information on resources related to food, finance, utilities, jobs, and mental health, serving as a valuable tool for individuals seeking assistance in these areas. By offering these services and resources, the Detroit Chesed Project plays a vital role in uplifting and supporting the Detroit Jewish community.
