Bikur Cholim and Patient Support
[object Object]
Chesed 24/7, headquartered in Spring Valley, New York, is a dedicated organization providing comprehensive support to individuals and families facing medical challenges. Their mission ensures that no one endures illness alone, offering assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They operate 30 fully stocked hospitality rooms across hospitals in New York and New Jersey, providing kosher meals, snacks, reading materials, and other essentials for patients and their families. Additionally, they offer eight nearby apartments to accommodate families wishing to stay close to hospitalized loved ones over Shabbos and Yom Tov.
Beyond hospital support, Chesed 24/7 extends its services into the community. They deliver home-style kosher meals to families in crisis, operate a medical equipment gemach, and provide a "Boost in a Bottle" program, offering pomegranate juice to cancer patients. Their Mothers’ Milk Bank stores donated milk and lends breast pumps to those in need. They also offer entertainment through a lending library of Jewish plays, concerts, and shiurim, and provide gift packages to families facing difficult times.
Chesed 24/7 actively involves the community through volunteer opportunities. Programs like "Shabbos in a Box" allow volunteers to pack boxes containing items such as electric candles, grape juice, and challah covers, bringing the spirit of Shabbos to hospital rooms. They also organize events where participants create knotted blankets and other comfort items for patients. These initiatives not only provide tangible support but also foster a sense of unity and compassion within the community.
