The United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg and North Brooklyn (UJO) provides a broad range of social services for individuals and families, with a primary focus on advocacy, access to government programs, and community support. It serves as a liaison between the Orthodox Jewish community and government agencies, helping residents navigate bureaucratic systems and secure necessary services. The organization also represents community interests in public affairs, often advocating for resources and accommodations that address local needs.

UJO operates as a Family Preservation Center, offering hands-on assistance with benefit applications, such as food stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, housing, and other social service programs. Staff and volunteers help clients fill out forms, understand eligibility requirements, and follow through with required documentation. The organization also provides referrals and coordination with outside nonprofits and city agencies to ensure individuals receive complete support.

In addition to individual casework, UJO plays a central coordinating role for more than 200 local charities, civic associations, and community institutions. It supports organizational collaboration, helps secure funding, and advocates on behalf of neighborhood-wide initiatives affecting housing, health, safety, and education. Its staff works directly with city and state departments to address issues such as affordable housing, zoning, infrastructure, and security.
