The Bayit Association addresses the housing needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by creating residential homes that are fully Shomer Shabbat and Shomer Kashrut. The organization focuses on enabling adults with IDD to live in Jewishly observant environments while remaining close to their families and communities. Its model is centered around placing homes within walking distance of shuls, Jewish stores, and communal infrastructure.

As of now, The Bayit has acquired two properties in Teaneck, New Jersey. One of these homes is currently under construction and is expected to open in Fall 2024. These residences are being developed to serve as long-term living spaces for Jewish adults with IDD, ensuring both physical support and religious continuity.

Each home is designed to be embedded within the local Jewish community, allowing residents to maintain full participation in religious life and community events. The Bayit’s model emphasizes dignity, independence, and connection to Yiddishkeit while addressing a critical housing gap for this population.

Discover. SUPPORT. CONNECT.
At Bridge to the Heart, we believe that tzedakah should be about connection, not attention. In a world where fundraising often leans on marketing tactics, grand campaigns, and external incentives, we aim to bring the focus back to the cause itself—the work being done and the lives being impacted. We provide a direct and transparent way to discover and support Orthodox Jewish organizations. No elaborate events, no expectations—just a place to find causes that align with your values and give because you believe in their mission. With Bridge to the Heart, you can search by name, category, or location to explore organizations that matter to you. Our goal is to reshape the culture of giving, making generosity a reflection of personal conviction rather than outside influence. Tzedakah is about heart, not hype. Let’s bring it back to what truly matters.
